Wilkerson ready to take on the competition again

Phoenix, pre-race: An enthused Levi, Ray & Shoup/White Knight Funny Car team is ready to do battle at this weekend’s 20th Annual Checker Schuck’s Kragen Nationals in Phoenix, Ariz. The Pontiac Firebird’s performance at this past week’s season opener in Pomona, Calif. has given owner/tuner/driver Tim Wilkerson and his team encouragement and confidence in what they can accomplish.

The single car team shined in a sea of multi-car Funny Car teams with a third place qualifying position, improved times on every run the car made down the quarter-mile and a quarter-final appearance at the K&N Filters Winternationals.

“We’re excited about going to Phoenix,” said Wilkerson. “Our competition is so tough out there and we held up right in the thick of things in Pomona. We qualified well and raced well and we want to keep the pace up. Our goal is to have a consistent car and that means we have to perform well week after week. And the best way to do that is to make laps. So we’ll take these races one at a time and just do our best every time we go out there.”
